Dèjá Vu unabridged definition is: "already seen"; also called
paramnesia, from Greek παρα
para, "near" + μνήμη
mnēmē, "memory") is the experience of feeling sure that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously (an individual feels as though an event has already happened or has happened in the near past). The term was coined by a
Frenchpsychic researcher,
Émile Boirac (1851–1917) in his book
L'Avenir des sciences psychiques (
The Future of Psychic Sciences), which expanded upon an essay he wrote while an undergraduate. The experience of
déjà vu is usually accompanied by a compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eeriness", "strangeness", or "weirdness". The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience "genuinely happened" in the past.
Abridged definition of DéjàVu ....something that happened before. In every medium that I work with the object or item had a life before. Rejuvenating, restoring, redesigning or recycling it, gives a beautiful new life to that object by embellishiment, addition, or deletion. My main working medium is with clothing and jewelry. Hunting and discovering quality vintage pieces to work with is the greatest challenge of all. Or, a bigger challenge is to have a customer present a pair of jeans or a jacket as the canvas and have me customize it to their liking.
Everyone has had a Déjà Vu experience before ......it's like a realization that somehow, somewhere, someplace at this time or point of your life this very incident happened before. You feel you've been there before, seen this exact environment but yet you know it couldn't have been. And now you can define it as a Dèjá Vu.
